A pencil drawing of the largest portrait of Mahatma Gandhi won Tirupati-based Kasturba Gandhi Kendra Trust (KGKT) a place in the prestigious Guinness Book of Records.
Aman Singh Gulati, an eighteen-year-old budding artist hailing from Lakhimpur in Uttar Pradesh, came up with the painstaking artwork on a canvas spread over 410.26 square metres (4,416 sq. ft). Mr. Gulati completed the sketch on on October 2 this year to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the Mahatma.
Big achievement
Mr. Gulati, who holds several records to his name, has now surpassed the previous record held by a teenager Alex Dzaghigian of The Republic of Cyprus, whose sketch measuring 323.90 sq.m. depicted a turtle in an ocean surrounded by plastic waste.
KGKT Chairman P.C. Rayulu announced that the Guinness World Records issued an official certificate for the largest pencil portrait and congratulated Mr. Gulati. “Our trust will celebrate his achievement in a grand manner by honouring all the stakeholders soon,” Dr. Rayulu said.
