Vizag to host first-ever agriculture hackathon

Several experts, 300 delegates, and 500 farmers from various parts will take part in the first-ever agriculture hackathon being organised here by the State government in association with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for three days from November 15.

The hackathon, being attended by Microsoft Corporation co-founder Bill Gates, will be inaugurated by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, according to B. Rajasekhar, Principal Secretary (Agriculture).

After reviewing the arrangements for the event, he said on Thursday that it would be a major international hackathon with delegates from all over the world participating in it.

Mr. Bill Gates will attend the valedictory on November 17. He said 500 farmers from across Andhra Pradesh and other States as well as 250 students would participate in the event. On the second day, Union Agriculture Minister Radhamohan Singh would participate. Mr. Rajasekhar said the Chief Minister, who was attaching a lot of importance to the event, would remain in the city all the three days.

Exhibition

An exhibition would be organised with 50 stalls to showcase the latest agriculture technologies and products of companies.

The CII would lend support to the government in organising the event, said its regional director (south) Satish Raman. District Collector Pravin Kumar said all arrangements would be made to make the event a great success.
