About 7,000 Satya Sai volunteers from different parts the country are on the way to Rajahmundry to extend their services at the 12-day Godavari Pushkarams. As the countdown has begun, the non-government service organisations and different charitable trusts are arriving in hordes to serve the pilgrims.
The heads of these voluntary organisations on Friday explained their plan of action for the 12-day event. G.S. Chalam, State president of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation (SSSSO), said they were engaging around 7,000 volunteers for crowd control, sanitary works, free food distribution at ghats and several other service assignments.
The volunteers will also keep the mobile medical vans ready at Thyagaraja Kalakshetram, Rajamundry.
Mr. Chalam said the volunteers would also perform duties like assisting old age people and physically challenged persons to the bath ghats and manning the ‘May I Help You’ Information Counters at railway station both at Rajahmundry and Godavari stations.
Tridandi Ahobila Jeeyar Swami, main disciple of Tridandi Srimannarayana Chinna Jeeyar Swami, said apart from performing Yagam at SKVT School, the volunteers of Vikasa Tarangini will render services like arranging free food and medical services at ghats.
Datta Mukti Kshetram incharges Prasad and Kantipudi Sarvarayudu said 1,500 volunteers from different parts of the country and abroad mostly medical doctors will assist pilgrims in medical and health aspects.
