Bail for Kejriwal, others held for protest at Sheila’s house

Updated - November 16, 2021 08:06 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his party colleague Kumar Vishwas, who had staged a protest outside the residence of the then Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in December 2012 in violation of prohibitory orders, were on Saturday granted bail by a court here on furnishing a personal bond.

Metropolitan Magistrate Dheeraj Mittal granted bail to Mr. Kejriwal, Mr. Vishwas and Mr. Wasim, who along with AAP leader Manish Sisodia, were charge-sheeted by the Delhi Police for the offences punishable under Sections 188 (disobedience to an order law fully promulgated by a public servant), 341 (wrongfully restraining any person) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC.

Kejriwal, Vishwas and Wasim on Saturday appeared before the court while the magistrate allowed the plea filed by Sisodia’s counsel seeking exemption from personal appearance.

They furnished a personal bond of Rs.10,000 each.

The police had in their charge sheet said the AAP leaders were protesting and shouting slogans outside Ms. Dikshit’s residence against demolition in some areas of Delhi, thereby violating prohibitory orders under Section 144 Cr.PC, despite being informed about its promulgation.
