Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said that honesty is his biggest asset. That is why the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wants to defame him using the repeated summons the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) has issued in the Delhi excise policy case.
“The BJP is not arresting the corrupt; they are instead using the ED and CBI to separate leaders from the opposition and compel them to join the BJP. Whatever is happening is dangerous for democracy and the country and we need to stop it. We have to work together to save the country. I am fighting against them with all my strength. I need your support,” Mr. Kejriwal said.
Curious timing
He said the investigation has been on for two years. Why was he was being summoned now, just months before the Lok Sabha election. “Why was I not called earlier? The CBI called me eight months ago. I went to the CBI and answered them. Now they are calling me just two months before the Lok Sabha elections. So, BJP’s aim is not to do any inquiry, but to call me on some pretext and arrest me so that I cannot campaign in the Lok Sabha elections.”
The AAP supremo claimed that for the last two years, agencies of the central government have raided and arrested many people but not even a single penny has been found. “If corruption has really happened, then where have all those crores of rupees gone? Did all the money disappear into thin air? The truth is that there was no corruption of any kind, if it had happened then money would also have been found,” Mr. Kejriwal said.
Meanwhile, several senior Delhi BJP leaders have attacked the AAP government for corruption. Lok Sabha MP Ramesh Bidhuri said that AAP leaders are panicking fearing the arrest of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal .
AAP panicking
Amidst the panic, the fear of the law is clearly visible on the faces of all the Aam Aadmi Party leaders including Kejriwal.
AAP leaders call Kejriwal honest, but he is the main conspirator in increasing the commission on liquor contractors from 5% to 12%. He cannot escape the investigating agencies. They will have to answer, he added.
BJP spokesperson Bansuri Swaraj said that ED raids are confidential, so why are AAP leaders talking about Kejriwal’s arrest? It seems they know that Kejriwal’s is in trouble?
How long will Mr. Kejriwal use the same excuse. He used the same line during the arrest of Vijay Nair, Satyendar Jain, Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh. Mr. Kejriwal said they were honest but all of them are in jail and their bail pleas have been rejected several times by various courts including the Supreme Court. Mr. Kejriwal’s pot of corruption is full, and he will face punishment for his corruption, Delhi BJP Spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor added.
