The Delhi Police on Saturday said they had identified a teenager as the person who had sent an email to the chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) stating that the question paper for the Class X mathematics examination had been leaked.
Sources said the teenager is being questioned to identify the source of the leak.
Special Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) R.P. Upadhyay said they had sought details from tech giant Google about the account from which the email had been sent. “We received details of the email address from Google after which the person was identified. Enquiries are being made from him,” he said. The teenager had attached the question paper in the email and sent it to CBSE chairman’s official email ID.

Sources said raids were conducted at schools and exam centres in West and Outer Delhi and several persons were questioned. Mr. Upadhyay, said a total of 53 students and seven teachers have been interrogated so far.
The question papers are said to have been shared on several WhatsApp groups and the police are examining the trail. “Six WhatsApp groups have figured in the trail of transmission of papers. They’re all being looked into,” the Special Commissioner said.

The police spent over two hours on Saturday night from around 9 p.m to 11 p.m in the CBSE Headquarters. Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Alok Kumar said, "Our investigation is continuing. We came here for ian nteraction with the CBSE officials. They've helped us with vital information," he said.
Fake question papers
Meanwhile, the CBSE on Saturday said that the Class 12 Hindi (Elective) and Political Science papers being circulated on the social media were fake or previous year question papers. The board urged the people not to spread rumours regarding the papers.
The board is scheduled to hold the Hindi (Elective) and Political Science examinations on April 2 and April 6 respectively.
“...a fake question paper of Class XII - Hindi (Elective) is being circulated on social media,” the CBSE said in a release.
In another release, it said a question paper of political science, which was being circulated on social media through a YouTube link, was verified to be an “earlier year’s question paper”.
