Encounter breaks out in J&K's Kulgam

One soldier was reportedly injured in the initial exchange of fire.

An encounter between terrorists and security forces broke out in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, police said.

According to a police spokesman, a gunfight took place during an anti-militancy operation of the security forces in Brayihard Kathpora village of Yaripora in Kulgam

Preliminary reports suggested one soldier was injured in the initial exchange of fire

Hiding militants opened indiscriminate fire and hurled grenades as the cordon was being tightened around them, officials said

A joint of team of police, Army’s 34 RR and CRPF is carrying out the anti-militancy operation

The police said the operation is on in the area.
