Hi mother, Gowramma, reportedly mortgaged her gold chain and took a loan of Rs.1 lakh to perform the rituals.

Gowramma said “my son had bought me the gold chain during his marriage which I have now mortgaged to a bank.”

She said she was ready to mortgage all her jewellery if she needed more money to conduct the rituals.

She added that they had not received any financial help from the government yet. She said she did not get justice for her son’s death.

Unlike the stormy scenes at the village on March 17 last year, the rituals went on peacefully with hundreds of people including residents of Doddakoppalu and people from Mysuru, Kolar, Mandya, Bengaluru and Tumakuru districts paying tribute to the ‘samadhi’ of Ravi.

Gowramma said she had invited Ravi’s wife, Kusuma and Kusuma’s father, Hanumantharayappa for the rituals.
