The Commissioner of Mysuru City Corporation has issued an order prohibiting the public from climbing old and heritage buildings along Sayyaji Rao Road, the Dasara procession route, during the Jamboo Savari on October 19.

As some buildings have turned weak and cannot hold the weight of a large congregation of people, the MCC has requested the jurisdictional police to ensure that the order is complied with in the interests of the public.

Last year, crowds had climbed some of the buildings along the road, including the century-old Devaraja Market, despite restrictions.

The best way forward would be to temporarily seal the entry points of such buildings and request the owners to prohibit crowds climbing the rooftops for watching the procession on the route till Bannimantap.
