Born on April 1 to Honnappa and Gangamma at Veerapura in Magadi taluk of Ramanagara district (earlier Bengaluru rural district)

1913-1927

Attends primary school at Veerapura and Palahalli; middle school at Nagavalli; and high school at government high school, Tumakuru; passed matriculation

1927-30

Resides at Thotadappa boys hostel in Bengaluru and studies Bachelor of Arts with Honours at Central College, Bengaluru

1930

Is selected the Siddaganga Mutt successor on March 3

1941

Takes charge as head of Siddaganga Mutt on January 11, after the death of Uddana Shivayogi Swami

1949

Celebration of silver jubilee of Sri Siddalingeshwara Sanskrit Patashala on June 18

1960

Construction of a hostel for students begins on mutt premises

1962

Sri Siddaganga Education Society established

1963

Siddaganga Institute of Technology started

1965

The seer receives an honorary doctorate from Karnataka University on November 6

1970

He inaugurates the 47th Kannada Sahitya Sammelana in Bengaluru on December 27

Siddaganga Women’s College established

Siddaganga First Grade College at Nelamangala and Siddaganga Pharmacy college in Tumakuru set up

Siddalinga Swami appointed successor of Shivakumara Swami on March 30

As part of the diamond jubilee celebrations of the seer, the then Vice- President, Shankar Dayal Sharma, inaugurates the Siddaganga Nursing College on February 16

Siddaganga Urban Co-operative Bank established on February 2

2000

Platinum jubilee celebration of Sanskrit College inaugurated by the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on January 30

2007

Karnataka Ratna award and 100th birthday celebrations for the seer

2012

Guruvandana programme, in which Sonia Gandhi, the then chairperson of the All-India Congress Committee, participates

2013

Seer receives an honorary doctorate from Bangalore University

2015

He is awarded the Padma Bhushan

2017

He receives the Sri Bhagwan Mahaveer Peace Award by the Department of Kannada and Culture
