Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi has said the Athirapally hydel project issue should be resolved by preserving the natural beauty of environment. He was addressing a UDF election rally at Chalakudy on Saturday.

Alleging that the LDF Government did not believe in industries and growth, Mr. Gandhi said, “The question is: how many jobs have the LDF created? How much industrialisation has taken place in Kerala? Why do companies that create jobs go to Maharashtra, Haryana, New Delhi and Tamil Nadu, and not to Kerala? The reason: the LDF Government.”

“For the CPI(M), the most important thing is their organization, and not the people and their needs. To ensure that it is in power, the CPI(M) unleashes political violence and intimidation,” he said.

He said the UDF would offer a Government where the needs of the people mattered most.

“It will offer a Government that believes in inclusive growth and free the spirit of the people of the State. It will ensure that companies set up shop in Kerala and generate jobs. Money derived from industrialisation will be pumped into health and education sectors and creation of jobs,” he added.
