Ban orders extended at Sabarimala

District Collector P.B. Noohu has extended the prohibitory orders clamped under Section 144 of the Cr.PC at Sabarimala, Pampa, Nilackal and Elavumkal by four more days to December 4 midnight.

The Collector’s decision came on the basis of reports received from the District Police Chief and Additional District Magistrate. These places witnessed protests following a Supreme Court verdict permitting entry for women of all ages to the Sabarimala temple.

The order prohibits unlawful and illegal assembly of people, staging protests, marches, public meeting and road blockade from Elavumkal to the Sannidhanam.

However, the ban orders would not be applicable for Ayyappa devotees, undertaking pilgrimage to Sabarimala, either alone or in groups. There will not be any restrictions on chanting ‘‘Sarana ghoshom aka Saranam vili’’ by devotees.
