The departure of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan from the Kannur International Airport to attend the inauguration of the BPCL’s Integrated Refinery Expansion Complex in Kochi by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday was delayed as the Navy’s Dornier aircraft could not fly due to technical snags.
The Chief Minister was scheduled to fly to Kochi in the Navy’s aircraft at 11.30 a.m. after he attended a couple of functions in the district. He could not fly as scheduled because of the technical snags the aircraft developed after it landed in the airport.
In another aircraft
The journey was delayed for nearly one-and-a half hours. He flew to Kochi in another Dornier aircraft of the Navy.
The aircraft that was originally scheduled to carry the Chief Minister had a proper landing at the airport at 10.30 a.m. Mr. Vijayan boarded the aircraft by 11.30 a.m. When one of the rotors of the aircraft failed to rotate apparently due to snags in the battery charge, Mr. Vijayan deboarded from the plane. The officers coordinated with the Navy to send another aircraft for the Chief Minister to fly to Kochi.
The officers said that the CM’s aircraft landed in Kochi around 2.30 p.m.
