DYFI meet calls to uphold secularism

The 13th State conference of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) began at Tirur, near here, on Tuesday.

Malayalam filmmaker Ranjit inaugurated the three-day delegates’ meeting at Rohit Vemula Nagar. DYFI State president T.V. Rajesh hoisted the flag after offering floral tributes to martyrs in the morning. The youths pledged to take up the responsibility of protecting secularism in future politics.

Leaders and workers of Left democratic groups in the district and family members of martyrs attended the function. DYFI State secretary M. Swaraj lit the light using the torch brought from Kattuppara, near Pulamanthol, the native land of martyr Saidali.

Mr. Rajesh presided over the conference. Organising chairman P. Sreeramakrishnan welcomed the gathering. State treasurer K.S. Sunil Kumar presented the martyr resolution and vice president P.P. Divya presented the condolence resolution.

Senior CPI(M) leader Paloli Mohammedkutty, CPI(M) district secretary P.P. Vasudevan, party State committee member T.K. Hamza, district secretariat members, and Tirur municipal chairman S. Girish were present.

As many as 608 delegates from the State, including four from Lakshadweep, are attending the conference. DYFI general secretary Abhoy Mukherjee presented the organisation report, Mr. Swaraj presented the working report.
