Kodiyeri re-elected CPI(M) State secretary

10 new faces in 87-member State committee

As expected, CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan was re-elected as the party’s State secretary for a second three-year term. The party also selected an 87-member State committee.

The election of the new secretary and its State committee is the last in the agenda of the 22nd State Party Conference that concluded with a public rally here on Sunday. While nine persons were removed from the old State committee, 10 members were added.

P.K. Gurudasan, P.A. Mohammed, N.K. Radha, T.K. Hamsa, P. Unny, K.M. Sudhakaran, K. Kunjiraman, C.K. Sadasivan and Pirappancode Murali were removed from the State committee.

The new members are: Mohammed Riyas, A.N. Shamseer, C.H. Kunjambu, Girija Surendran, Gopi Kottamurikkal, K. Somaprasad, K.V. Ramakrishnan, R. Nassar, P. Gagarin, and E.N. Mohandas.

Five special invitees are V.S. Achuthanandan, Paloli Mohammed Kutty, P.K. Gurudasan, M.M. Lawrence and K.N. Raveendranath.

T. Krishnan, M.M. Varghese, E. Kasim, M.T. Joseph and K.K. Lathika have been selected as control commission members. In all, 175 delegates will participate in the 22nd Party Congress.

Two shown the door

Two key supporters of party veteran V.S. Achuthanandan during the height of polarisation in the State CPI(M) have been removed from the State committee in what the party leadership has termed complete erasure of factionalism.
