The Mahatma Gandhi statue at Taliparamba here was vandalised by an unidentified person on Thursday morning.

The statue, located inside the compound of the Taliparamnba Taluk Office, was vandalised at around 8:30 a.m., according to eyewitnesses.

Reports quoting eyewitnesses said that a person wearing a saffron ‘mundu’ damaged the spectacles on the statue. He also reportedly removed the garland on the statue and then walked away.

The Police is trying to identify the person from the photograph taken by some eyewitnesses using their mobile phones.
