Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai’s wife passes away

Katha, 93-year–old wife of the late Malayalam literary titan, Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai, died of old age-related illness at Thiruvalla Medical Mission Hospital at Thiruvalla on Wednesday.

She was admitted to the TMM Hospital around 11.30 a.m. and the death occurred around 12 noon at the Intensive Care Unit there, according to hospital sources. The body has been taken back to Thakazhi, sources said.

Her husband, Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai, Jnanapith Award winner and author of 39 novels, 21 collections of short stories two plays and four autobiographicals works, died at the age of 87 on April 10, 1999.
