Too many visitors for Dileep: SIT

Moves court saying probe will be hit

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the abduction and sexual assault on a female actor in Kochi has approached the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in Angamaly against the lining up of people to meet actor Dileep, currently lodged at the Aluva sub-jail in connection with the case.

In his complaint, Circle Inspector Baiju Poulose, who heads the SIT, said the visits would affect the investigation. Though the prison authorities generally permitted visitors for two days a week, people came in huge numbers to meet the actor even on holidays, it said.

According to the SIT, the sudden rise in the number of visitors could be part of an organised attempt to sabotage the investigation. Considering the complaint, the court has directed the superintendent of the Aluva sub-jail to furnish details of the actor’s visitors. The court is slated to consider the case further on Monday.

The SIT’s petition came a couple of days after several prominent personalities from the Malayalam film industry including K.B. Ganesh Kumar, MLA, visited the jail to meet the actor.

The jail authorities have imposed restrictions on the number of visitors to Dileep. The other day, about 10 persons sought permission to meet the actor. However, none of them were let in.

P.C. George case

Meanwhile, the Nedumbassery police probing the case against P.C. George, MLA, for allegedly revealing the identity of the rape survivor have collected statements of the female actor. Official sources said the statement was collected two days ago, during which the actor reiterated her complaint against the MLA.
