The restriction will be relaxed from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. today

A day after communal tension gripped Sri Dungargarh town in Bikaner district of Rajasthan, curfew continues to be in force.

District Collector Punam said on Sunday, “We will give a relaxation in the curfew for two hours between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Monday. We will also hold a meeting [with all authorities concerned] to decide whether the town must remain under curfew for few more days.” On Friday night, a clash between two communities in Sri Dungargarh forced the police to resort to lathi charge and fire tear gas shells to bring the situation under control. Around 60 people had been held in the town till Sunday evening, Ms. Punam said.

Meanwhile, in Bhilwara, in south Rajasthan, the death of a Muslim youth had led to tension. Islamuddin, 20, was found dead on Saturday morning. On Saturday, a mob of around 500 Muslims gathered at the hospital where the body was kept for post-mortem and demanded that the accused be arrested.
