Muslims must accept their Hindu ancestry: Swamy

Published - January 30, 2015 03:49 am IST - Pune

Muslims must learn to accept that their forefathers were Hindus, said Bharatiya Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy here on Thursday.

Addressing a convention of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP), he said India’s principles could not be safeguarded unless it evolved into a Hindu majoritarian country. Expounding on India’s religious tolerance, Dr. Swamy remarked that “there was no democracy or freedom of religion in Islamic countries.”

“Muslim invasions in medieval times had thoroughly Islamised ancient Persian and Egyptian civilisations. Today, Europe too is increasingly in the grips of Islamic terror. But despite 800 years of Muslim invasions and 200 years of Christian rule, more than 80 per cent of our country has remained Hindu,” he said.

“We have continuously fought and weathered foreign invasions. So, everyone must accept that their ancestors are Hindus,” remarked Dr. Swamy.
