Fifty special squads manned by the Central Armed Police Force have been deployed in the Srirangam assembly constituency for the Friday election.

This is in addition to 15 flying squads, 12 static surveillance teams and 12 video surveillance teams for monitoring and curbing distribution of money or freebies.

Besides, four special video surveillance teams have been formed for covering the expenditure during campaign of the four recognised political parties - the AIADMK, the DMK, the BJP and the CPI (M).

461 persons arrested

As on date, 461 persons have been arrested under preventive sections and 1,085 arms seized.

Voters of the constituency can report violations of the Model Code of Conduct by calling a toll-free number “1950” or to the District Control Room.

They can also make complaints anonymously, if they wish through a mobile application “TN Citizen Poll Watch” (downloadable from the Google play store), said a statement from CEO Sandeep Saxena.
