Students of Government Boys Higher Secondary School at Kunnam in Perambalur district were kept under observation for three hours at the government hospital here on Monday after a lizard was found in the noon meal served to them.
According to Perambalur officials, the one-centimetre-long lizard was found in the sambar after the noon meal, prepared for 203 students, was served to 115 children.
The headmaster, Premkumar, alerted the officials following which arrangements were made for shifting the children to the nearby Ariyalur Government Hospital.
Though the students did not show any symptoms of illness, they were kept under observation from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
All of them were sent home after a thorough check up.
Collector Darez Ahamed visited the hospital to enquire about the health of the children.
