Swimming camp evokes good response

The 12-day summer swimming camp organised by the Salem district unit of the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) which commenced at Gandhi Stadium swimming pool in the city on Wednesday evoked good response.

The camp is open for all people above five years.

The camp will be held in five sessions every day. The one hour session commencing at 6 a.m. is exclusively for women.

There are two sessions each in the morning and evening commencing at 7 a.m. and 8 a.m.; 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. for the boys and girls.

According to G. Guhanathan, National Institute of Sports coach attached to the SDAT, students will be taught from the basics of swimming during the camp days. All safety measures will be adopted at the swimming pool.

This is the first batch and similar camps for 12 day duration will be held till June, he said.
