Three-day food festival begins at People’s Plaza

A three-day food festival showcasing the culinary heritage of Telangana began at People’s Plaza here on Friday.

The event to mark the State formation day celebrations was inaugurated by Chief Secretary S.P. Singh who went round the stalls that were dishing out Telangana delicacies.

Tourism Secretary B. Venkatesham and TS Tourism Development Corporation Managing Director Christina Z. Chongthu were present.

“We expect huge crowds to savour a variety of delicious food offered at 50 stalls,” said a representative of Bhagyanagar Foods.

Bus service

Another attraction was ‘Hop on and Hop off’ buses provided by the Tourism Department to facilitate a city tour for people. The buses would cover all the major tourist places like Birla Mandir, Charminar, Golconda Fort and Hussainsagar lake.

Cultural programmes would be part of the three-day event. Over 200 police personnel have been deployed for the smooth conduct of the festival. The food festival has become a feature of the formation day celebrations that attracts good number of people every year.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Secretary inaugurated the Flavours of Telangana restaurant on Tank Bund.
