Come December, citizens can visit a new urban forest and park with state-of-the-art facilities on an 87-acre land at Rampur. The district administration is in the process of developing the urban forest (50 acre) and park (20 acre) with a play area and walking track.
“People can have a feel of a forest comprising Eturnagaram and Tadvai areas. We are developing the forest land with Japanese technique ‘Miyawaki’, where plants are pitched closely with good landscape, parking space and eateries, among others,” District Collector Prashanth Jeevan Patil told The Hindu .
The district administration is also focusing on regenerating degraded forest land, one at Kothapally in Bheemadevarapally mandal and another at Mupparam village in Dharmasagar mandal. According to Mr. Patil, 10,000 saplings were being planted at Bheemadevarapally and 3,000 trenches dug up inside the forest tract and 3,000 plants pitched and 1,200 trenches dug up at Mupparam village.
