Trains diverted due to Rajdhani derailment

Several trains were diverted through other routes because of the derailment of the New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express and a goods train in Bihar on Wednesday, a NF Railway official said here.

The 15610 Lalgarh-New Tinsukia Avadh Assam Express which left Lalgarh on June 23 will be diverted via Gorakhpur- Paniyahwa-Raxaul Junction-Sitamarhi-Darbhanga instead of its normal route via Hajipur-Muzaffarpur, Northeast Frontier Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Sugato Lahiri said.

The 15708 Amritsar-Katihar Express which left Amritsar on Tuesday will be diverted via Gorakhpur-Paniyahwa-Raxaul Jn- Sitamarhi-Darbhanga-Samastipur instead of its normal route via Hajipur-Muzaffarpur, Lahiri said.

The 15707 Katihar-Amritsar Express leaving Katihar during the day will be diverted via Muzaffarpur-Runnisaidpur- Gorakhpur section instead of its usual route via Barauni- Muzaffarpur-Hajipur.

The 15983 Dibrugarh-Amritsar Express which left Dibrugarh on Tuesday will be diverted via Barauni-Baliakheri-Mughal Sarai-Varanasi instead of its regular route via Barauni-Hajipur-Chhapra Kacheri, he said.

The 15609 New Tinsukia-Lalgarh Avadh Assam Express which left New Tinsukia on Tuesday will be diverted via Malda Town-Bhagalpur-Kiul-Patna-Mughal Sarai.

The 12407 New Jalpaiguri-Amritsar Karmabhoomi Express leaving New Jalpaiguri during the day will be diverted via Malda Town-Bhagalpur-Kiul-Patna-Mughal Sarai-Varanasi instead of its normal route via Katihar-Muzaffarpur-Chhapra, the CPRO added.

At least four passengers were killed and 23 others injured when the 12236 New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express derailed between Chhapra Kacheri and Goldenganj stations, under Sonpur division of East Central Railway, Lahiri said.

The goods train derailed between Mehsi and Chakia stations under Samastipur division of East Central Railway, he added.
