Australia's David Warner.

Cricket Australia has fined David Warner 11,500 Australian Dollars and suspended the batsman up until the first Ashes test for attacking England player Joe Root in a late-night incident at a bar.

The opening batsman will miss Australia’s final Champions Trophy group match, against Sri Lanka on Monday, as well as the team’s tour matches against Somerset and Worcestershire in the lead-up to the first test at Trent Bridge in Nottingham from July 10, 2013.

Cricket Australia said on Thursday that Warner, who pleaded guilty to breaching its code of behaviour, “will be eligible for selection for the first test”.
