Deepak Parekh appointed special advisor to Gavaskar

Eminent banker Deepak Parekh has been appointed special advisor to Sunil Gavaskar, interim-president, BCCI for Pepsi-IPL-7. A BCCI release stated that Mr. Parekh has been appointed at the instance of Gavaskar and he will be part of all IPL governing council meetings as special invitee. Parekh is the chairman of HDFC. “I am delighted that Deepak has accepted my invitation to come on board as a special advisor and special invitee to the IPL governing council.”

“It is apt that an individual of the calibre of Mr. Parekh will be joining the BCCI-IPL’s leadership group. With a diverse combination of skills and experience, this appointment will result in a well-rounded senior management team at the IPL — one that will set the direction for a better league,” Gavaskar said. On his part, Parekh said, “I look forward to fulfilling this challenging new role.”
