Chitradurga is one of the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka, India. It comprises eight legislative assembly segments. This arid region of Central Karnataka has also been affected by the severe drought in the State, with farmers experiencing losses from their coconut and areca plantations. The Scheduled Castes (left), Muslims, Veerashiava-Lingayats, Vokkaligas, Gollas, Nayakas and Lambanis along with Minor Backward Classes (MBCs) are considered politically important for their numerical strength.
